Dematerialization on everyday life
In this week's Technology for Leading and Learning Module 3 we went over the Law of Accelerating Returns by Ray Kurzweil. A brief overview of The Law of Accelerating Returns is Kurzweil's ability to predict modern advances will become smarter than humans. The law also builds up on Moore's law and is composed of the growth of technology at an exponential rate, and it builds on itself. Therefore, these stages were measured by using the 6D. What are the 6D's? The 6D's are Digitization, Deception, Disruption, Democratization, Dematerialization, and Demonetization a chain reaction of technological progression, a road map of fast development that led to a big disruption and occasion created by Steven Kotler and Peter Diamonds, and how the impact of Dematerialization exponential technologies has transformed the world.
My primary focus on this week's learning is Dematerialization. Dematerialization is the process by technologies that starts off from being non-cost-effective to becoming literally free. The phase in which physical technologies are transformed into immaterial mediums. This is the source that powers digitization, creating solid, lightweight tech capable of holding an extensive amount of information while offering enhanced functionality. Once a technology enters the dematerialization phase, it becomes attainable, and actionable in a way that the material version was not capable of.
Technologies have honestly made living and learning much easier than it has ever been. With the use of our smartphones. Allowing us to connect with friends and family on the web to have to look up whenever it is that we need within the reach of our pocket. Back in the earlier days, everything used to be so expensive, and not everyone could afford to have many things. For example, GPS systems, phones, and cars in the earlier times didn't have built-in GPS that directs you to your location. Therefore, consumers would purchase separate GPS systems or have them built into their vehicles, which can cost upwards of $500 or more. As the world moves in exponential growth, and more products are being created we no longer need to buy those GPS systems because in today's world, vehicles have built-in GPS systems, and even our phones have GPS apps for free.

Hi Andrew!! WOW, great job breaking down "Dematerialization". I was able to understand what you were saying and your blog post is very to the point. I was also confused a little bit with this weeks topic, so it is nice to know I was not alone in this feeling. Although it was a more difficult topic, I think you did a good job explaining it in your post. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHello Andrew, I appreciate how you explained what Dematerialization was before you explained how it is used in common technology.
