Flywheel Strategy For Information Security

In this past week's module, we discussed the Flywheel strategy, and how it'll correlate with my field of study; Information Security to get to my "One Thing". You may ask "What is the Flywheel strategy and your One Thing". I'll gladly explain, the Flywheel strategy is broken up into 3 parts buildup, breakthrough, and fly another way to describe it, is the short, mid, and long-term goals that'll help me get to my One Thing, which is the one goal I want to achieve in my future career that is to become Chief Information Security Officer.

First, my buildup is between 2024-2029 to first graduate with my bachelor's that I will obtain next year. Next, gain experience through internships, and get exposure to know what it's like to work in the field. Whether it's in person or remote, the knowledge I gain from it will prepare me for when I get a real job. While being an intern having the ability to have a relationship with the company's manager, and employees to understand what each position's responsibility is. As I complete my internship I will build up my resume to get a job offer at a company first as an  Information Security Engineer. I plan on working with the company for several years making a name for myself in the company doing my absolute best by bringing newer ideas/products and joining meetings that'll help me move forward to my next position.

Next, the breakthrough is between 2030-2037 to add more to my resume, get job offers for a higher position, and also move to different companies as an Information Security manager. Being able to have such power within the company, build my name, help employees, make decisions and apply my skills to high-risk situations that'll save the company, and develop strategies for mitigating risk. Also, I will go back to school to get my master's in Information Science as it is required, and I want to be at the highest in my field of study. I will be communicating with more managers, CEOs, and Vice Presidents in Information Security to help pursue my goal of becoming Chief of Information Security.                                Lastly, the fly is between 2037-2040 when I will become Chief of Information Security and have successfully met my One Thing. To be able to develop and implement information security programs that'll be made to protect enterprise communications and systems that'll protect the company externally and internally. To always be on top of everything, and have the company run and produce products smoothly.

In conclusion, I learned so much from this model, and I'm prepared to take on the challenges I'll face as I progress in my field of study to get to my One thing. I will definitely follow the Flywheel strategy to keep me on track and not lose focus as I want to become my One Thing.
